IoT Chess Board

In 2015, I build an IoT chess board, designed to enable the user to play chess online, but with a physical board.
This means that incorporated into the board are LEDs in each piece and square, and detection of the location of each piece.

It uses a Raspberry Pi as a web server and an Arduino MEGA to control the electronics.

Each 3D printed chess piece has a 3mm jack, which provides power to the LED inside and allows detection of the piece’s location.

    1. Thanks very much. I would say the latter; it’s just really nice to be able to look at the board and pieces in 3 dimensions, and to be able to physically make your move by placing a piece 🙂
